This beginner course gives you the essential 350 words and core grammar you need to survive. You'll learn gender recognition, definiteness, nominative and accusative cases and the present tense in the first and second person (all about you!).

This course offers 40–60 hours of intensive learning, combining video lessons, exercises, and speaking practice to build a strong foundation in Icelandic. Along the way you'll pick up greetings, handy filler words to keep your speech flowing, and vocabulary covering family, people, professions, food and household items. You'll reinforce your progress with quizzes and flashcards, and finish with a final exam, score and certificate.

Access the course anytime, on any device, with your progress tracked throughout. You'll also join a private community of motivated learners and you can reach the Icelandic AI team whenever you need.

Please allow up to a week to receive access to the course. Once activated, your access is valid for 12 months.
